Alton Cemetery is located in the city of Alton, Madison County, Illinois. It is bound on the east by Pearl Street, on the south by East 5^th Street, and on the west by Vine Street. The cemetery contains a half acre lot donated by the Alton Cemetery Association in 1940 to the federal government. Known as the Alton National Cemetery, it contains the graves of many Civil War soldiers.
