The notation on the back of the photo identifies these women as confirmation classmates in 1885 or 1886. From other resources, we know that Henriette was confirmed in 1887 in the Evangelische Salems Kirche (known since 1957 as Salem United Church of Christ ) at Higginsville, Lafayette County, Missouri.

Mary Etta recalls that many people called her grandmother by her nickname, "Yetta."

Great-Grandmother & Great-Grandson

J. Mark Fiegenbaum & Henriette Caroline Amelia (Starkebaum) Fiegenbaum

At the time this photo was taken in 1955, Mark's great-grandmother Fiegenbaum would have been about 82 years old. Mark was less than 2 years old and was visiting from Elmhurst, Illinois. The photo was taken in the home of Martin and Clara (Drewel) Fiegenbaum, at Higginsville, Missouri.

In November 1954, Henriette moved from her farm south of Mayview to live with her son, Martin, and his wife, Clara, at their home on Fairground Avenue in the nearby town of Higginsville, Missouri.
