Charlotte Elisabetha (Etling) Gerber

Charlotte Elisabetha (Etling) Gerber
The pin on Charlotte's collar appears to be a photo of her husband, George Louis Gerber.
Charlotte Elisabetha (Etling) Gerber
In this family photograph, Charlotte is flanked by the two large baskets of flowers. The bouquet on the right has two large ribbons attached to the basket handle. One of the ribbons has the words 50 Years printed on it. The other ribbon has a phrase printed on it that ends with the word Lady. Making an assumption, one might presume the phrase included Good Lady.
On 10 February 1928 (see the article below), Charlotte's 50 year membership in the Good Ladies' Aid Society was celebrated. "Two beautiful baskets were presented to Mrs. Gerber, and each was filled with fifty golden roses."
According to historical data recorded at the St. Louis University weather station and available online at Weather Source, the mean temperature at St. Louis for 10-12 February 1928 (Friday to Sunday) ranged from 42.5℉/5.83℃ to 47℉/8.3℃ (with high temperatures of 55℉/12.78℃ on 10 Feb.; 52℉/11.11℃ on 11 Feb.; and 58℉/14.44℃ on 12 Feb.). Apparently even the winter weather celebrated Charlotte's long years of service.
Golden Jubilee Celebration
In Honor of Mrs. C. Gerber
A golden jubilee in honor of Mrs. C. Gerber, 2616 Potomac street, was celebrated February 10th at Gambrinus Hall, by the Good Ladies' Aid Society.
Mrs. Gerber has been a very active member of this society for the past fifty years and is liked by all.
Mr. Etling, father of Mrs. Gerber, was founder of the society 69 years ago. Several of the older members gave very interesting talks on the steady growth of the society.
Two beautiful baskets were presented to Mrs. Gerber, and each was filled with fifty golden roses. After the presentation, lunch was served on beautifully decorated tables. A good time was had by all members present, and the society wishes Mrs. Gerber many more happy years with the society.
