      Death and burial records. Johann Hermann Kersten died 13 November 1843, at the age of 54 years. Based on these facts, by calculation, he would have been born about 1779-1780.

      "It is highly probable that J. H. KERSTEN and JOHN UTHLAUT brought their families to America with the "Thirty-twoers".... To alleviate another doubt, we may have to concede that J. H. KERSTEN could have arrived in American [sic] in 1833. It is an established fact that ERNEST KERSTEN [sic], his son, was less than one year old when he arrived on our shores, and he was born on July 7, 1832."

KERSTEN was one of the founding fathers of that church. he was also one of the first four men elected to serve on the church council in 1839, the year Immanuel Church was founded. JOHANN HERMAN KERSTEN died November 13, 1843 age 54. Buried 1 cemetery 4th grave."
