    Birth:
    Elmer was one of nine children born to Reverend John S. Davis and Margaret J. Davis.

    Elmer was buried in the city cemetery.

    Died:
    For some time it was believed that Elmer died during a mining accident, but an examination in May, 2006 of records at the funeral home which arranged his burial show that he died while a patient at the Oklahoma State Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Clinton, Oklahoma. A transcription of his obituary, in what was probably a local Sallisaw, Oklahoma newspaper, has been provided by Thomas L. Scribner, Elmer's great grandson.

              Elmer T. Davis

         Elmer T. Davis passed away at Clinton, Oklahoma, July 5, 1935.
         He was born at Hancock, Missouri August 20, 1887, the son of Rev. and Mrs. John S. Davis deceased.
         Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Scribner of Cassville, Missouri, two grandsons; three brothers, W. S. Davis of LeRoy, Kansas; Bland Davis of West Fork, Arkansas; and Frank Davis of Sallisaw; a number of nephews and nieces and grand-nephews and nieces.
         His body was received over the KCS (Kansas City and Southern Railway) at 11:20 p.m. July 6, and was held in his home here until 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 7 when the funeral was held at the First Christian Church, by Rev. E. R. Hall, pastor of the First Christian Church of Stillwell, and Rev. Russell Towry, pastor of the first Christian Church here.
         Pallbearers were Albert Peters, Guy Scott, E. B. Bugher, L. C. Pierce, E. Ross, B. Brewer.
         Out of town relatives attending the funeral were his sister, Eliza Davis, nephews Claude and Michael Davis, niece Pauline Davis, all of West Fork, Ark.; sister. Mrs. Cora Payne of Tulsa.
         Out of town friends attending the funeral were Cooper Steel, of Elmspaige, Arkansas, and Mrs. E. R. Hall of Stillwell.
         Interment was made in the city cemetery beside his father and mother, directed by the Wheeler-Stevenson Undertaking Company.

    Louis' baptismal record is in the archives of Zion Church. A baptism certificate which appears to have been written at some later date would indicate that the baptism had taken place at Salem Evangelical Church (now know as Salem United Church of Christ) in Higginsville. This, however, may not be the case.

    Confirmation:
    Louis was confirmed in Zion Evangelical Church (now know as Zion United Church of Christ) in Mayview.

    Buried:
    According to an obituary "funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 27th, at the home and the Blackburn Evangelical church. Services were conducted by Rev. W. H. Sabert and Rev. Ernst of Concordia. Interment was made in the Blackburn cemetery."

    Died:
    According to information on his death certificate, Louis suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage for a week prior to his death. Dr. Paul Lowell, of Blackburn attended him.

    Funeral services were held at the home and at St. Paul's Evangelical & Reformed Church in Blackburn, Wednesday afternoon, March 31. Rev. August L. Brueggemann conducted the services.

    Died:
    According to an obituary, Katie had been in poor health for some time prior to her death from a stroke on the evening of March 29. Since her husband's death in 1943, she had been living with her sister, Mrs. Lena Rehkop in Blackburn. Katie was survived by her three sons: W. F. Nolte, of Blackburn, Missouri; Roy B. Nolte, of Higginsville, Missouri; and Everette Nolte, of Madison, Missouri. And also by 7 brothers and sisters: Mrs. Emma Hering, of Blackburn; Mrs. Mary Mollenbrock, of Blackburn; John Meyer, of Blackburn; Mrs. Lena Rehkop, of Blackburn; Fred Flair, of Bogard, Missouri; Sam Flair of Malta Bend; and Joe Flair, of Blackburn.

    Louis and Katie spent most of their married life near Blackburn, Missouri, except the last two years when they lived near Concordia, Missouri. Following her husband's death, Katie moved to Blackburn, Missouri and lived with her sister, Mrs. Lena Rehkop.
