    According to the 1920 U.S. enumeration, the household at 623 North Kansas Street consisted of
    H. Charles Fiegenbaum, a store clerk, his wife, Josephine Fiegenbaum, both age 33 years, and their son, C. Norman Fiegenbaum, age 2 years, 10 months.

    Census (family):

         According to the 1940 U.S. enumeration, the household at 623 Kansas, in Ward 4, consisted of Charles Fiegenbaum, head of household, age 53, and his wife, Josephine Fiegenbaum, age 53. Also in the household were two sons: Norman Fiegenbaum, age 23 and single; and, Edward Fiegenbaum, age 12 and single. Charles Fiegenbaum, a salesman in the oil industry, had not worked in 1939, was currently unemployed and was seeking work. Norman was a laborer in the oil industry, had worked 48 weeks in 1939 earning $1,140 and was currently employed. Josephine worked in the home and Edward was attending school.
         All four of these people lived in the same home in April 1935.

    Residence (family):

         According to information on his World War II draft registration card, filed on 27 April 1942, Charles and Josephine lived at 623 North Kansas Street. This was also their address in 1920, according to the federal census. Charles reported on his draft card that he was employed by the city of Edwardsville, at 400 N. Main Street. The Registrar of the local draft board, Irma M. Kriege, described Charles as 5 feet, 11½ inches tall; 160 pounds; with blue eyes, brown hair, and a ruddy complexion. She stated that there were no other physical characteristics that would aid in identification.
