Various pieces of data in U. S. census returns and in the wills of Margaretha Etling, Charles Wende and Elizabeth Margaretha (Etling) Wende, seem to indicate that Elizabeth Margaret Etling's first marriage was to a man by the name of Maeser, Meser or Moeser, and that a child, Louise or Louisa, commonly known by the family as Lulu, was born of this marriage. Lulu later became the wife of Harry Streitz. The date of the marriage is arbitrary, based on the assumption that the marriage took place at least one year before the birth of Lulu and that she was the first (and only?) child. The fact of a first marriage, the date of the marriage and the name of this husband need to be verified.
