"ERNST [Kersten] courted and won unto himself as his wife, LIZETTE HOELSCHER, who was born September 24, 1841 on the Simon Stock Farm west of Holstein. Whom he married on November 18, 1859; the ceremony being performed by the late [sic] Rev. J. Rieger, then pastor of Immanuel Evangelical Church, Holstein, Missouri. They went to housekeeping on the Kersten farm near Holstein...."
