In an Affidavit on Application for Marriage License and a Marriage License, both signed by Seward County Judge Alfred Hiller on 29 September 1896, Philip Spohn applied for a marriage license for himself and Miss Mary A. Braden.

Certificate of Marriage signed on 5 October 1896 by "L. A. Dumphy, Catholic Priest" certified that Mr. Philip Spohn and Miss Mary A. Braden were married on 5 October 1896 at Utica, Seward County, Nebraska. Witnesses were Philip Braden, of Exeter, Filmore [sic] County, and Kate Heser, of Utica, Seward County.
The Certificate of Marriage was filed with the County Court on 6 October 1896.
