"Mrs. Howard...was reared in southern Texas. In her young womanhood she moved to Cherokee nation, Indian Territory, and in 1894 came to southwest Missouri, residing near Rocky Comfort until 11 years ago, when she came to live in Joplin with Mrs. Hartley."

Burial was in the Dice Cemetery [Fairview, Missouri] under the direction of Parker-Hunsaker Funeral Home, Joplin, Missouri. Harriett was survived by a son, Jack Howard, of Rocky Comfort route; a daughter, Mrs. Mattie Hartley, of Joplin (with whom she had been living for the last 11 years); a grandson, John Doyle Howard; a grand-daughter, Mrs Beulah Scribner, of Exeter, Missouri, and five great grandchildren.
